We all like travelling

Czech Republic is in the middle of Europe. It’s quite big. Czech’s capital is Prague, which is bigger than Ljubljana. The offical language is Czech.
I was in Prague one year ago. This city is very beautiful. I was there one week. We travelled by train with my mother, brother and sister. My dad stayed at home with my dog because he had a job. I saw a lot of interesting things there. Every day we went across Charles Bridge in the centre of city. I also saw the Prague castle, the Cathedral of St. Vid and the old city square. Because there was no time, we ate in a small pub, but just for lunch. For dinner we ate Korean pocket soup, but I didn’t like it because it was spicy. I didn’t speake English, because I didn’t need to.
I really like this country, because Prague is very old and it has a style. I really want to visit it one more time.
Neža, 7. b

Croatia is my favourite country. It is in the south of Europe. The capital city is Zagreb. Croatia has got 4 million people. The offical language is Croatian. The flag is white, blue and red.
I went there last summer .I stayed for four weeks. I travelled by car with my family . I played with my friend. I saw the capital city. I bought nothing, but I ate many fish. I met my good friend Mark. I didn't speak English because I spoke Croatian.
I like this country, because it has many friendly people. I would like to live there because I love the sea and the islands. Many famous people go there for holidays.
Peter, 7.b

My favourite country is Cuba. This is a Carribean island east of Mexico. The capital is Havana. The official language is Spanish. There are about eleven million inhabitants. The flag has five blue and white stripes and a red triangle on left side with a white star inside.
I went there in October 2010 and I stayed there for three weeks. First I went from Ljubljana by car to Ponte Tresa (Switzerland) and then to Zürich by train. From there I travelled by plane for 12 hours. I went there with my mom, cousin, uncle and my aunt. I met some local people there and ate delicious Cuban food. I stayed in a hotel with five stars with a pool and sandy beach. I didn't speak English there because I didn't know how.
I like this country because it has a lot of sun but I wouldn't live there because I like Slovenia more.
Maks Ž., 7. b

Germany is in the centre of Europe. The capital city is Berlin. The population of Germany is 81 million. The official language is German. Flag is black, red and yellow.
I went to Germany during the autumn holidays. I stay there for five days. I went to Germany with my family. We travelled by train. We travelled eight hours. We went to Munich. First day we saw the old city of Munich and the Technical Museum. The second day we travelled by train to Ulm. There is a Legoland and we visited it. I liked it. There we brought some lego cubes for my younger brother. The third day we visited the famous football stadium Allianz arena. It’s very big. I liked it. Then we went to the airplane museum. There were many interesting airplanes.
We bought some postcards and stamps. We ate German food. In Munich I didn’t speak English because we spoke German.
I like Germany because it’s big and there are many interesting things to see but there are too many people, so I don’t want to live there.
Lenart, 7. b

France is in Europe. The capital city is Paris. The official language is French.
I was in France many times. We (my family and I) went there for about three weeks in summer holidays. We were in many cities, like Marseille, Avignon, Lyon, Toulouse, Orleans, le Mont-St-Michel and Paris. In Paris we saw a lot of interesting things, like the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
I like France very much. I think it is my favourite country, because whenever I go there, I feel so romantic and special.
I will never get tired of France.
Lana, 7. b

Great Britain lies in Europe. It is actually an island which consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The capital of Great Britain is London. Great Britain is a kingdom. The queen of Great Britain is Queen Elizabeth II. The highest mountain is Ben Nevis and the most popular lake is Loch Ness.
I was in Great Britain twice. When I was there the first time I stayed in London, next to the Victoria train station. The second time I was there, last year, I stayed in four hotels in six days. I visited London again, but I also went to Oxford where I visited the Oxford university. I visited the coast, a lot of museums but I really enjoyed watching English pupils going to school in their uniforms. I really like Great Britain and I would like to live there someday.

The best of our haikus

The fox running fast
into the deep dark forest.
Rainy night is here.

The call fades away,
the call becomes an echo.
Now it's forgotten.

The man walks alone

into dream-land, in unknown.
The day is over.

Clouds and misty skies,

two friends by the fire-place
telling old stories.
Lara, 8. b

Outside there's a tree,
but my garden is empty.
I still have the seed.
Nejc, 8. b

White little snowflakes                              .
are shining bright in the dark.
Glow of winter night.
Hana, 8. b

Moonlight in my eyes
a forces smile on my face
sadness in my heart

Feather in the air
Just another soul that's lost
wanders off away
Katarina, 8. a

Headless horseman scares
the undead at Halloween
run while you still can

Why do you hate me?
I'm trying my best to do
this thing right and well.

The farmer and the dragon

Once upon a time there was a big castle. A king, a queen and a princess lived in it. But one day a dragon came by. He kidnapped the princess. He flew away with her. The king offered the whole castle and his daughter to the man who would save the princess. Many of them tried but they never came back. The king was very miserable and the queen cried all days long. She died after a few days. That made the king even more sad. A farmer in the village heard about the story and he decided to save the princess. He took some food and water. He walked three days until he found a big cave. He entered and in the cave he found a sword and a shield on the ground. He took them and went deeper in the cave. Then he saw a dragon. It was green and it had red eyes. It was very scary. Then he saw a princess locked in the cave next to the dragon. The dragon roared and a fire came out of his mouth. The farmer attacked him and he cut its head off. He saved the princess. They went back to the castle and the king was very happy. Everyone lived happily ever after.

My favourite sport

My favourite sport is cheer dance. I like it because it's different  and you are in top condition. Cheer dance comes from America. You dance with pom pons. It is a team sport. The team sticks together and it's connected. You wear sport uniform and you have to wear dancing shoes.
I train cheer dance 5-6 times a week. Sometimes I also have training on Saturdays. When I dance I feel relaxed and comfortable, I forget everything that's bad around me. We always have competitions, and we're always successful. This year we were seven times on the first place, and we are very proud of that. We are state champions and in the European championship we were in third place. I really like my friends that are in my dance group.
Good side of that dance is that you learn something new, you are in a good shape and you are very active. I made a lot of new friends. In dance you can achieve a lot. Bad side of  that dance is that you can injure yourself.
Nika, 9. b

Ballet is the sport I like the best. I’ve liked to dance since I was a little girl. I started to love ballet when I was four years old when I saw a ballet performance. I liked it very much, specially ballerinas and their costumes called tutus.
I like ballet because I like to perform and I like to see that also other people like what I do. I enjoy in ballet, because I can express my feelings with dance. I do ballet when I’m sad and I do it when I’m happy. Sometimes my dance can say more about my feelings than words. You must work hard. You must to practice every day even if you have a pain in legs. Ballet is very difficult because you need to be in good shape. You need to spend lots of hours in ballet school and practice if you want to be good. It’s not enough if you do ballet just technically good but you must to dance with your soul not only with your feet.
When I dance I forget my problems and it is also good exercise. I love to perform in big performances and applause at the end of performance is the best award for my hard work.
Eva, 9. b

My favourite sport is handball. I like it because it is very rough and because it is team sport. It is indoor sport and non-seasonal. There are 6 players and one goalkeeper. You and your team have to give as many goals as possible in sixty minutes. There is not much equipment for handball. You need a ball, a dental guard, a handball resin…
I train handball every day a week for one hour and a half. Almost every weekend we have a game against another team from other parts of Slovenia. Once or twice a year we go to a tournament in other countries like Bosnia, Czech, Serbia, Austria…
Handball is very rough sport and also very difficult. You have to run a lot and you must be strong. Handball helps you relax and keeps you fit.
However, handball is dangerous sport and you can easily hurt yourself or somebody hurts you. It is also very difficult to train it.
All in all, I like handball very much and I play it very well. I think it is an excellent way to exercise and relax. You have a lot of fun with your friends.
Jaka, 9. b

My favourite sport is gymnastics. I like it very much, because I enjoy in it. Mostly it is done indoor in a gym. It can be done individually or in a team. Practising for competitions is always done with music. For doing it you need a ball, a band and a hoop. I did it two years ago.
It is a fun sport if you do it in a team. If it is done individually, it is a very calm sport. It's relaxing and enjoyable. It keeps you also fit and healthy. You become very flexible and it gives you a good training.                                                                                                   It can be dangerous if you do tough exercises and it hurts. You feel very exhausted and tired. From a year to year it becomes harder too. It can be expensive if you have to buy some new stuff for a competition.
In conclusion, I liked it very much. It is a girly sport that I really enjoyed. I recommend it to every person that likes calm sports and also wants to take an advantage off the free time that it has.
Aleksandra, 9. b

My favourite sport is volleyball. I like it because you have to bounce the ball with your hands over the net. It is a team sport and it is played indoors or outdoors. I don't train it but we often play it at school during PE. To play you need a net and of course a volleyball. The objective of this sport is to get the ball over the net with your hands, into the other team's part of the court. The ball must land within the lines that mark the court.
The positive point of all sports is that they keep you healthy and fit. Volleyball is good for hand-eye coordination. Getting the ball over the net requires some degree of this skill. It is also good for learning how to cooperate with your teammates.
However, getting people together to form two teams can be a challenge. That’s why we play it at our school. It is sometimes difficult to find a court to play because not everyone has the volleyball net and enough space to set up the court. Sometimes when you try to get the ball over the net, you fall. Most of the time injuries aren’t severe, but they can be. For example if you get a ball into your face, you will most likely need a doctor.
In conclusion, I like volleyball but the thing is I am not very good at it. So I practise and practise, because practise makes perfect.
Dorjan, 9. b

My favourite sport is basketball. I like it because it's exciting and you are active when you play it. I also like it because it's a team sport in which two teams compete on a rectangular usually wooden floor. The objective of the game is to throw a basketball into a basket of the opposite team. It's non seasonal sport because it's played indoors and also outdoors. Basketball is a school sport, we often play it at PE and I trained it when I younger.
Basketball originally comes from USA but now it's played all over the world by women and men. I also like basketball because you don't need much to play, only a basketball, at least one friend, a basket and trainers. Basketball is a good exercise and it's easy to play but you have to be very focused on the game and it's also tiring.
In conclusion, I really like basketball because it's interesting and very fun sport although you have to run a lot.

Sixty years of Primary school Poljane

On 18th October we celebrated sixty years of primary school Poljane.
It was an important day of school's history. School invited many famous Slovenian people that once had attended primary school Poljane: Nina Valič, Omar Naber and a football player Nejc Vidmar. We had a lot of musical performances. Students have played us on instruments during the singing of Nina Valič. Then we enjoyed listening to the piano. At the end, Omar Naber sang us some of his songs that were written by himself. Mrs. Temlin, a history teacher prepared a fashion show with clothes from history. I think it was one of the most interesting things on that day. I was one of the models too. We were wearing funny clothes so we were a little ashamed, but we had a great time. When I came home my mother told me that we were great! There was a lot of food too. If you didn't pay for the school lunch you could buy some pancakes or soup that some of students were selling. I bought a chocolate pancake and it was delicious! Many children were selling things made by themselves.
In conclusion, that was a really interesting day and I had a wonderful time. It's sad, that I won't be there, when school will celebrate seventy years.

Our family rules

Every morning, I first need to make my bed. When I put on my clothes on, I always take my dog for a walk. After eating my breakfast I have to wash my dishes. When I leave our flat, I need to turn the lights off. After I come home, I first need to take the mail. I mustn't wear shoes in the flat, so I change into slippers. If my room is messy, I must tidy it up. After that, I need to do my homework and learn for at least two hours. Then I must do some housework. I hang out the washing, I take the rubbish out, or I wash the dishes. In the evening I prepare dinner and my schoolbag. I need to go to bed at least at nine o'clock. At the weekends I can watch a movie till half past nine. I must tidy the flat, learn and cook, but I can go out with my friends. I'm okay with my house rules and I wouldn't change anything.
Maja, 7. b

Every day starts like this: I must wake up at 7 o'clock. Then I must make my bed. My brother makes his bed too. At 8 o'clock I must go to school. At school I must listen to the teacher. School ends at 2 o'clock. When I go home by bus, I must give up my seat to someone older. At home I must do my homework. Then I must study. I must clean my room. I must take rubbish out of the house. I can watch TV. Then I go to the football training. After training I can eat dinner. I must go to bed at 9 o’clock.
But at weekend I start like this: I can sleep to 9 o’clock. Then I must prepare breakfast. My younger brother helps me with it. After breakfast I must go to football match. Then I must study a lot. In the evening I can watch TV till 10 o’clock.
I don’t like my rules because I don’t have any free time.
Jan, 7.b

I am Lana and I am 12 years old. In my family we all have duties. When I wake up I must make my bed. I have to take rubbish out. After school I must do my homework. I have to go figure skating. When I come home I must learn for school. I have to hang the laundry. I can prepare dinner or lunch at weekend. I mustn’t sing loudly, because my sister hates this. I can watch TV, but not too long. I must clean my room. I mustn’t stare at people. Sometimes I have to clean our bathroom. My sister has to put the dishes in dishwasher. My mother has to wake up at 6 a.m. My father has to do the hoovernig. I think our rules are okay.
Lana, 7. b

In our house we have some rules. I have to do my homework every day. When I do my homework, I can hang out with my friends. I also must vacuum cleaning every two days. I must take out the rubbish. I  also must wash the dishes after dinner. In the morning, I must clean my rabbit's cage. During the week, I mustn't go to bed late. Saturday is my favorite day. I can do whatever I want. I don't like rules. I think that in the world, there should be only one rule: That there are no rules! But I guess I won't die if I have rules at home. Probably, I am not the only one.

My shopping habits

I don't like shopping. I only like shopping for books, because I read a lot.
I usually go shopping to BTC Shopping Centre, which has everything in one place. We sometimes go to the small shops, when we have to buy some food. But it's hard to find a car park. I go shopping once a month. I always go shopping with my family or only with my mum. We usually go shopping at the weekend and never late at night. I usually buy clothes or shoes. I sometimes go window shopping, if things in the shop are very expensive. I very rarely spend my pocket money. I never shop online, because you can't see the thing which you buy, you can lose money from your credit card ... I sometimes watch advertisements and I think they aren't always honest and because of them you buy things which you don't need. They are annoying, too.
In conclusion, I don't like shopping. I go shopping only if I have to go.
Ivana, 8. b

I like shopping, because I get new things. I usually go shopping for clothes.
I usually go shopping in big shopping malls, because there is more choice. I usually go shopping once a week. We don't go shopping on Sundays or late at night, because we usually go somewhere else. I usually buy shirts or trousers and somethimes shoes. I often go shopping with my friends or with my mum. I like shopping with her very much. I somethimes go window shopping, when I don't have money with me. When I get pocket money, I save it. I usually buy things online. For example T – shirts and jackets. I think online shopping is great, because you save more time. I don't read advertisments and I don't watch TV commercials. I don't like them, because I think they are anoying.

In condusion, I like shopping, because when I shop, I relax.
Tara, 8. b

I really like shopping, because it's fun and I enjoy it. I like shopping for clothes and food.
I usually go shopping in big shopping malls, because there is a big choice of clothes and food. I usually go shopping once a month, sometimes just window shopping. I and my family members never go shopping on Sundays or late at night, because we go shopping on Saturdays morning. I usually buy books, because I read a lot and there are a lot of interesting books I haven't read yet. I always go shopping with my mom, because she has a good taste for clothes. I really like shopping with her. I go window shopping really often. That's my favourite thing to do. I spend my pocket money on chewing gums and smoothies. I don't like online shopping, because I cannot see if clothes fit me.
I hate TV commercials, because they interrupt the film and they are annoying. Ads and TV commercials are sometimes good, because they give you information about products, and you can see if things are on sale or not.
In conclusion, shopping is my favourite thing to do, but I don't like TV commercials and ads. They are really annoying!

My dream job

Since I was a little boy, I loved cooking and eating. I prepared lunch, dinner and breakfast for my parents. Sometimes I made smoothies and sometimes sushi. I loved food. When I smelled food, I was just so happy. So I decided that when I grow up, I want to be a cook.
We have a cooking class at school. I love going there. When I'm at home, I often cook when I'm bored. I think of new recipes and enjoy eating them. Sometimes they're really good, but sometimes they taste awful. When I grow up, I would like to work in my restaurant. I would work with my friends and with a lot of other cooks. I don't want a big restaurant. I want a small and  cozy restaurant. If I really were a cook, I would sometimes have to work even at nights. But I don't mind. If I were tired, I'd take a break. After all, the restaurant will be mine.
In my restaurant, there will be also unusual recipes, but that doesn't mean they're going to be complicated. You're always welcome to my restaurant. Except at midnight, of course. I still have to sleep, don't I?
 Sima, 7.a

When I grow up I would like to be an actress. I like this job beacause you travel a lot and I love travelling. I like acting and singing. You work with a lot of people and sometimes with animals. I will work outside, because we will film in diffrent places and countries. Sometimes I will have to film in an office. I will work with a lot of people, other actors and directors.
I will have to act a lot and learn a lot of texts. I think sometimes I will say the wrong text and we will have to film that scene all over again. I won't wear a uniform, but I know I will change a lot of clothes.

Time for poetry

Sun is shining.
People are smiling.

.
Roses are bursting.
Inspiring days are coming.
Nothing matters,
Growing love is important.
       Eva, 8. b

Sunny days are getting longer
Peaceful and quiet,
Rising sun is warming our cheeks,
Incredible nature is coming from the ground,
Nothing can stop them,
Getting bigger and bigger.
      Miha, 8. a

So many beautiful flowers, so many cheerful birds.
Probably it is the most wonderful time of the year, but
Right now
I wish you were here with me.
Now and forever. So we would never have to say:
Goodbye.
      Lara, 8. a

    Love

Love is a beautiful thing
     That will never perish.
It is something we should
     give and also cherish.

Love is something that
    binds us together.
Love shall last forever
    and ever.

Love is always around,
to find it, just turn round!
         Kendra, 8. a

 Love is a funny feeling.
Love is the butterflies in your stomach.
Love is what everybody desires to have.
Love is like a flower, it needs water to grow.
Love is a mystery, discover it.
      Ema, 8. a

Love is a key,
a key to my heart.
My heart is waiting,
waiting for your love.
Your love is a key,
a key to my heart.
      Karin, 8. a

The other world

One day, I will join you,
where the sun is gazong to the sea,
where the cold is always there,
where the flowers never bloom.

Where the people need just love
and my love is always you.

I will join you, one day.
Just wait, hold,
in the other world.

We visited Yellowstone, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, Seattle,… We bought a lot of clothes. We ate in restaurants. We met my father's uncle and cousin. I spoke English there.
I like USA because it is very beautiful and people are very friendly. I would like to live there because it is very nice there.

I liked the sculpture of Asterix and Obelix the most.
We stayed there for a whole week and then went back to Slovenia, but stopped in Verona. There we went to see the colosseum and the house of Juliet Capulet.

Luna, 7. a

Brazil is in South America. The capital city of Brazil is Brasilia. The population of Brazil is about 199 million people. The official language there is Portuguese. The Brazilian flag is green, yellow, blue and white.
I went there in November 2009 and stayed for two weeks. I travelled by plane for 13 hours. I went to Brazil with my family. I visited Rio de Janeiro, Buzios and the largest city Sao Paulo. I learnt how to surf there. I ate lots of Brazilian food. I visited my three cousins there and my aunt and uncle. I spoke a little English in Brazil, because I was only eight.
I like this country, because of its lovely nature and I had a great time when I went there. I would love to live there, because I want to learn Portuguese and because a part of my family live there.

Two stories

 A STORY OF A PRINCESS

Once upon a time a princess lived in a castle.
For her birthday she got a fabulous crown. She was very happy and she was in love with the crown. She didn't want anybody to touch her crown. One day the crown disappeared. She was very hurt and she was crying. She was so sad and she didn't want to talk to anybody. Then she decided that she was going to find her crown. She asked everybody if they saw her crown. Nobody wanted to help her because she was always selfish and rude.
Then the magic horse with coloured wings heard what her problem was, and he said: »I am going to help you!« Then the princess said: »You can't help me!« The horse disappeared. In a few seconds it appeared again with her crown. She was very happy. Before she could say thank you to the horse, the horse disappeared.
She went to her castle and started being nice to everybody.

A MAGIC MIRROR

Once upon a time in a poor man's cottage lived a poor boy. His name was Richard. He was lonely and miserable.
One day he went to the nearest village. A beggar said to him: “A rich boy wanted to kill a princess. He is evil. You have to save the princess. She is in the forest. The evil boy changed her. Now, she is a horse with wings.” Richard was afraid but he was brave and he quickly ran to the forest. It was dark and there were many ghosts. He came to a meadow. There was a maze. And there was also an evil boy. He laughed. »The princess is in the maze. She is a horse with wings now. I am going to kill her. Only a magic mirror can save her«. Richard ran away to the castle. The queen gave him a gold magic mirror. He took a sword and went back to the forest. The evil boy had a sword too. But Richard killed him and went into the maze. When he found the princess, he gave her the magic mirror. She changed. She was beautiful. Richard took her to the queen and they were happy again.
Richard married the princess and they had a big castle.

When we were little ...

I was born on 4th February at 7 p. m. in Ljubljana. When I was born, my hair was black and long and my eyes were blue. I was a big baby. I was thin. I weighed 3.38 kilograms. I was a happy baby and I didn't cry a lot. My first word was »au« - it meant a dog. My favourite toy was a soft ladybird. I liked fairy – tales very much. I had many picture – books and soft toys. I didn't go to kinder – garten.
When I was a little girl life was good.

I was born in Ljubljana on the 6th of May 2001 at 5 o'clock p.m. I had brown hair and brown eyes. I was a big baby and I cried a lot. I and my sister had a lot of toys. Every evening we listened to audio-stories on the radio. I think our favourite audio-story was  “Greek legends”. Every evening we also ate our dinner in front of the television and watched cartoons. We both liked »Hercules« a lot. Sometimes our cousin visited us and played with us. I often went to my grandma's. She had a dog back then.  I had many friends in kindergarten. I don't remember all of their names but I think my best friends were Katja and Arne.

It all started on the 27th of May in 2001. My birthdy. I was born two months before I should be. That's why I was very small. I didn't cry so much, but I slept a lot. I wasn't naughty, but I wasn't quiet. I was always asking questions. I hated watching TV. But my mum didn't have time for me, so I got used to it.
My first word was ''nujno'', because my mum always sad: ''Nujno pojej kosilo ''. I remember that I really liked one song, called Schnapi. I could listen to it all day long. I was eating a lot. But it's weird because I didn't get fat.
I had a lot of toys. But my favourite was Tana, the panda. She was a soft animal. She has only one eye now, but I don't mind.
I had a really great childhood, well I'm still having it.

Shop till you drop?

Why do I like shopping? Well… because it can be fun, interesting and just amazing!
I don’t like shopping for food, but I love shopping for clothes, shoes, furniture, computers, books and things like that. I usually go shopping to big shopping malls, because I can buy everything I want and need in one spot. I would love to go shopping every single day, but I know that’s impossible. I go shopping when I need clothes, shoes… that’s not very often, so I also go shopping just for fun.
I usually don’t go shopping for food, my mum and dad do that. They go to supermarkets once a week. I don’t go shopping on Sundays or late at night, because I don’t have time. And I’m too lazy. I go shopping with my friends or with my parents. I like it in both cases. I mean, shopping is shopping, right?  Sometimes I also go window shopping with my friends.
I don’t spend my money online. That means, I don’t do online shopping. I believe that shopping is much easier and faster on the internet, but you don’t really know what you’re buying. Maybe the product looks perfect on the photograph, but when you actually get it and try it on, it can be completely different.
What about commercials? Do I like them? No! I hate them! I never read them, I never watch them on TV, I never look at them on the internet… They’re so incredibly annoying and boring. They hide the negative sides of the product, and make the positive ones look so much better, than they really are.
I don’t know why, but shopping is probably more interesting and fun for women.   I don’t understand some people. Come on, how can you hate shopping? There are so many reasons why I love shopping.  I guess it’s one of the things I really like to do, one of my hobbies.

Our family rules

I must get up at 7. I must make my bed every morning. I must put the washing out of the washing machine. I and my sister must do our homework. I must tidy up my room. I can watch TV in the evening. I don't have to go to bed at 8. I can sleep more on Sundays. I must sit up straight at the table. I mustn't bite my nails. I must say »please« when I ask for something and say »thank you« when I am given something. I and my sister must help our parents. I must be polite. I can water the flowers and have a pet. I must feed my pets. I mustn't eat too many sweets. I mustn't go to bed at midnight. I mustn't go to discos and point at people. I must clean the table. I don't have to visit my friends. I must go to shop on Saturdays. I don't have to cook. I and my sister can have a birthday party. I mustn't wear shoes in flat.
I think the rules are important.
Ivana, 7. b

My family rules aren't strict but they're fair.
For example, I don't have to eat everything from my plate or I must go to bed at nine o'clock. I don't have to clean the dishes. I must be polite. I can watch TV. I can't be noisy. I can help my father at his work. I and my sister have got some rules between us too. For example, we don't disturb each other when we do our homework.
I really like my family rules because they're fair and fairly divided.
Leon, 7. a

In our family we have family rules.
I must tidy up my room every weekend and sometimes help with other chores. I must do my homework and study every day. I must get up early in the morning except at the weekends, but I don’t have to make my bed every morning.
At lunch time I must sit politely. I must cover my mouth when I yawn or cough. I don’t have to make lunch, but sometimes I go to shop to buy some food and drink. I must obey my parents. I must always say “please” if I ask for something, or “thank you” if somebody gives me something.
I can invite my friends to our house.
I must go to bed until 9.30 pm, but at the weekends I don’t have to go to bed at this hour. I mustn’t go to bed at midnight or after 10.00 pm.
I think our family rules are O.K.

My ideal school

I get to my ideal school at 10 a.m. At first, we have breakfast in a small colourful restaurant, where we can do our homework, talk and enjoy ourselves. We only have four lessons a day. We have a lot of space around the school. There is a playground for small kids and a big swimming pool. There is a big mountain two kilometres away from school. In winter we can go skateboarding, skiing or just hiking. There is a river and we can go bungee jumping or fishing. We always have P.E. outside. We have an animal room, too. There are tigers, elephants, lions, giraffes, monkeys ... We have biology there. We feed, clean and take care of the animals. History is very interesting because we have a time machine, so we can travel in past. We have meetings with Einstein, Columbus, Mozart and others. We have geography and music at the same time. We travel all around the world and go to concerts of famous singers. There are thousands of students, hundreds of teachers and we all know each other- Teachers are nice and calm. We all have good marks. we don't have homework every day. We learn maths, art, English and other subjects in the computer room. There are bedrooms for students from distant cities and a dining room for students and guests. We all have great time there.
Zala, 9.b

A typical day at my ideal school starts at nine a.m. every day. Every second day classes take place somewhere outside, it depends on a topic and learning material of that day.
The school is modernly designed, therefore it has plenty of windows, space and it combines wood and white concrete as a building material. It is surrounded by a big lawn with a playground, trees and flowers.
Every student has their own part of the lawn to plant seeds of their own choice and learn about gardening as well.
Classes contain about 15 students and mostly use practical work as a learning technique. Teachers are educated on one subject only, what makes them more productive in passing their knowledge to the students.  Every pupil has their own computer to make notes at school but every day's homework is to rewrite and sum up all of them in a notebook just to improve handwriting and repeat what they have done.  lessons usually last until two p.m. unless they are spent outdoors, those can end later.
After school students are welcome to use the school library, cafe, gym and the laboratory to attend afternoon activities or just hang out.
Ava, 9.b

I'm visiting the best school ever. What I am going to tell you is my ideal school.
My school is at the end of the valley, near the waterfall. If you are visiting that school, you have to go through the waterfall. Only students with imagination can visit and see that school. Our day starts at 8 o'clock in the morning. My first lesson is making magic and learning spells. After that we have our second lesson. We usually go to the forest to feed and talk to the animals. Then we have free time so we can do whatever we want to. We ride horses and fly on the brooms, for example. We never have homework because we don't go to ordinary school as other "normal" students. After that we have lunch at school. You can eat whatever is on your mind.
That's why I love my school and I'd never change it. I'm lucky to be that special to visit such an ideal school as mine is.
